Non-Surgical Solutions
The Fraxel SR® Laser Treatment
We are the first plastic surgeons in Monmouth County to offer the exciting new technology of skin resurfacing and rejuvenation with The Fraxel SR® Laser Treatment. Fraxel SR® eliminates your old epidermal (skin) pigmented cells. It also penetrates into the dermis (deeper layer of the skin). However Fraxel SR® leaves the surrounding tissue untouched or unaffected. This "Fractional" treatment allows the skin to heal much faster than if the entire area were treated at once, using the body's natural healing process to create new, healthy tighter tissue to replace skin imperfections. What this translates to is a safe, non-invasive procedure that allows you to rediscover the skin of your youth with minimal to no downtown. It all happens in the office using topical anesthesia.
The benefits of Fraxel SR® Laser Treatment:
- Improve skin texture tone and pore size
- Erase unwanted brown spots
- Smoothes wrinkles around the eyes and acne scars
- Rejuvenates your neck, chest and hands
There is simply nothing else like Fraxel SR® for improving the appearance of your skin with minimal downtime. We invite you to ask about our exciting new Fraxel® Laser Treatments to restore your youthful skin and help you look your best with a simple, safe, and effective treatment.

Thermage®
Thermage® can improve your appearance with a revolutionary new non-invasive radiofrequency technology. So revolutionary, in fact, that the Thermage® procedure tightens skin and renews facial contours by reshaping your skin's innermost structures.
Thermage® is a safe, clinically proven way to tighten and contour skin, with improvements in tone, contour, and texture occurring naturally through the stimulation of your own collagen.
Thermage® is completely non-invasive, no surgery, no injections. A single treatment tightens your existing collagen and stimulates new collagen growth. Improvements are both immediately visible and continue up to six months. The results can last for years.
The Thermage® procedure is available only in the offices of qualified physicians who specialize in cosmetic procedures. The procedure itself is normally done as a single treatment that takes from 20 minutes to two hours depending on the treatment area. What's more, there is no downtime so you can quickly resume your normal routine.
Unlike lasers, Thermage® works on all skin types and tones. And unlike injections or fillers, Thermage® works on your entire face--forehead, eyes, nasolabial folds, jaw line, jowls and the area under your chin.
Thermage® is the only non-invasive procedure available that tightens and renews your skin's collagen in all three layers. How? Thermage's® unique Capacitive Radiofrequency (CRF) technology safely heats your skin's underlayer and the web of collagen in the inner layer, causing an immediate tightening as well as improved tone and texture. And the improvements will continue and become even more noticeable for four to six months following treatment due to new collagen growth.
Immediate Results: You should feel and see your skin being smoother, firmer, and tighter immediately after your Thermage® treatment. You may also notice some contouring effects which will begin enhancing the shape of your face.
Continued improvement over time: After the procedure, you should continue to see improvements to your skin as a result of the production of new and increased collagen, as well as some additional contouring effects due to continued tightening over time. These effects will continue for up to six months. You should see lasting results.
Botox® Cosmetic
Botox® is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck. The toxin blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance.
Botox® treatments are ideal for treatment of forehead wrinkles, the furrows between the eyes, and crow's feet around the eyes. The treatment of wrinkles with Botox® is highly effective and lasts approximately three to four months. Repeated injections are very common every four months.
Botox® is the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in the United States with over 1,000,000 treatments.
Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion helps to "refinish" the skin's top layers through a method of controlled surgical scraping. The treatments soften the sharp edges of surface irregularities, giving the skin a smoother appearance.
Dermabrasion is most often used to improve the look of facial skin left scarred by accidents or previous surgery, to treat deep acne scars, or to smooth out fine facial wrinkles, such as those around the mouth. It's also sometimes used to remove the pre-cancerous growths called keratoses.
Dermabrasion can be performed on small areas of skin or on the entire face. They can be used alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as a Facelift, Scar Removal, Scar Revision, or Chemical Peel.
Dermabrasion can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but the treatment will not remove all scars or prevent aging. Before you decide to have a skin-refinishing treatment, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with your surgeon.
Your treatment may be performed in a surgeon's office-based facility, an outpatient surgery center, or a hospital. It's usually done on an outpatient basis, for cost containment and convenience. Dermabrasion may be performed under local anesthesia, which numbs the area, combined with a sedative to make you drowsy. You will be awake but relaxed, and will feel minimal discomfort. Sometimes a numbing spray, such as Freon, is used along with or instead of local anesthesia. Or, in more severe cases, your surgeon may prefer to use general anesthesia, in which case you'll sleep through the procedure.
In any case, you surgeon will give you detailed instructions to care for your skin after surgery. For men, this will include delaying shaving for a while, then using an electric razor at first. It is very important that you understand your doctor's instructions and follow them exactly, to ensure the best possible healing.
You can expect to be back at work in about a week. Your surgeon will probably advise you to avoid any activity that could cause a bump to your face for at least two weeks. Above all, it's important to protect your skin from the sun until the pigment has completely returned to your skin-as long as six to 12 months. Refinishing treatments can offer dramatic improvements in the surface of your skin. Obagi® Blue Peel
The Obagi® Blue Peel is a revolutionary type of chemical peel, performed safely in the office, designed to restore the skin to a more youthful and refreshing appearance. The Obagi® Blue Peel removes wrinkles, age spots, and scars, restoring the skin's elasticity. The Peel solution (performed and administered exclusively by your doctor), trichloroacetic acid (TCA), essentially removes the outer layers of the skin, exposing the undamaged layers underneath. It provides excellent results with significantly less downtime and healing than the more invasive phenol chemical peels. We would be happy to arrange a consultation with our doctors for more information about the Obagi® Blue Peel. N-LITE
Our doctors at The Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center are the first plastic surgeons in the area to provide the N-LITE laser for the treatment of active acne and other scars. This device has become one of the gold-standard treatments for active acne. The N-LITE laser therapy is often combined with medications and topical agents to provide an extremely effective therapy regimen for active acne.
By using pulsed-dye laser technology, the N-LITE is also used to lighten the overall appearance of thicker and aesthetically less-pleasing scars. Multiple treatments are necessary for both acne and other scars. However, other then noticeable bruising that can last several days at the treatment site(s), the N-LITE procedure is very well tolerated without any downtime or pain during the procedure. Our doctors will carefully evaluate your individual situation and provide you with the most effective treatment plan. Facial Fillers

Restylane®
Restylane® has been used in more than three million treatments in over 70 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles and to enhance the appearance of the lip border. It is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, which are the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth.
Restylane® is cosmetic dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. Restylane® maintains its shape using the body's own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is hydrophilic or "water loving." As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide lasting results. After your treatment, you might have some redness or swelling. This will normally last less than seven days. Studies have shown that Restylane® effects generally last for about six months. Follow-up treatments are typically scheduled at six-month intervals. (Individual results may vary.) Juvéderm™
Juvéderm ™ injectable gel is a smooth gel filler your doctor eases under your skin to instantly smooth out those wrinkles or folds that look like parantheses along the side of your nose and mouth. Results aren't just instant, they're so smooth and natural, everyone will notice but no one will know.Hylacross ™ technology results in a smooth consistency gel, which is a primary factor in the long-lasting, smooth, natural look and feel that is a hallmark of Juvéderm ™ wrinkle correction. Perlane®
Perlane® is injectable cosmetic dermal filler that has been used to soften wrinkles and facial folds of patients across the world. It is also popular filler for lip augmentation, facial depressions, and facial scarring. It has been used worldwide since 2000 and received FDA clearance in 2007. Perlane® is made from a non-animal derived hyaluronic acid gel. Since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the skin and other tissue, there is no need for a skin test when using Perlane. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® supplements the body's natural supply, which becomes depleted with age. Perlane® is biodegradable so its effects are not permanent. The results of a Perlane® filler treatment tend to last six months to a year. This is much longer than the typical results of collagen injections which may only last three to six months. Collagen
Collagen injections are among the most popular non-surgical, minimally invasive procedures to restore a youthful and natural appearance to the face. The primary reason for the recent popularity of collagen injections is the availability of a human-based collagen product, which can be injected immediately with quick results and without requiring a skin test for allergy. Candidates for collagen injections include patients with unwanted lines and wrinkles around the mouth, unwanted crow's feet, folds or fine lines around the eyes that are pronounced, and lines that appear between the nose and mouth, or smile lines and laugh lines. In many cases, collagen injections are combined with Botox® and the N-LITE laser to give patients treatment regimens that maximize the results of each procedure.
The only commercially available filling agents in the world made from human collagen are CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast. Results from a single CosmoDerm or CosmoPlast and treatment typically last six months. EVOLENCE®
EVOLENCE® dermal filler represents a breakthrough in treating the effects of aging by replacing the collagen you've lost with collagen that lasts. A truly novel dermal filler, EVOLENCE® can immediately improve and refresh your appearance by smoothing out and softening unwanted wrinkles and folds, and restoring structure and facial contour in volume-depleted areas. The visible, natural-looking results are achieved immediately, with minimal-to-no downtime, so you can get right back to your daily activities. These immediate results last for at least 6 months, so you can avoid the costly repeat treatments often associated with other fillers. Radiesse®
Radiesse® dermal filler is made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel, and is injected into the skin through a simple and minimally invasive procedure. Radiesse® dermal filler is the ideal choice for total facial contouring. It can restore a healthy, youthful appearance, enhance your existing features, help you defy age and gravity, and increase your confidence--all without invasive surgery or scarring. Fat Transfer
Fat Transfer involves extracting fat cells from the patient's abdomen, thighs, buttocks or elsewhere and re-injecting them beneath the facial skin. Fat is most often used to fill in "sunken" cheeks or laugh lines between the nose and mouth, to correct skin depressions or indentations, to minimize forehead wrinkles and to enhance the lips.
After both the donor and recipient sites are cleansed and treated with a local anesthesia, the fat is withdrawn using a syringe. The fat is then prepared and injected into the recipient site with a needle. Overfilling is necessary to allow for fat absorption in the weeks following treatment.
Many patients are able to resume normal activity immediately. You can expect some swelling, bruising or redness in both the donor and recipient sites.
The duration of the fat injections varies significantly from patient to patient. Though some patients have reported results lasting a year or more, the majority of patients find that at least half of the injected fullness disappears within 3-6 months. Therefore, repeated injections may be necessary. Your doctor will advise you on how to maintain your results with repeat treatments.
